Types of Laser Vision Correction
Because not all eyes are the same, there are several types of laser vision corrections available. Differences in prescription, corneal thickness and pupil size help determine which different laser platform will achieve the best outcome.
At your FREE LASIK eye exam, our doctors will create your unique LasikPlus Treatment Plan by taking into account which approach is most appropriate for you.

-
Standard LASIK
With Standard LASIK surgery, your doctor will sculpt your corneal tissue using computer-guided lasers to correct for your vision impairment. If your pupils are standard to small in size, or if you have a straightforward prescription that can be corrected without a customized treatment (see below), this may be the best choice for you.
-
Custom LASIK
Custom LASIK surgery uses technology called a WaveFront analyzer to identify your prescription and also create an individualized, ultra-detailed treatment map of your eye including any tiny imperfections it may have. For some people, this level of precise, customized mapping allows surgeons to reduce or eliminate complications that might occur in cases as a result from laser vision correction, such as glares or halos. For most eyes, Custom LASIK vision correction allows the best chance of obtaining the best quality vision; however it is not best for everyone. Discuss with your doctor during your FREE Lasik eye exam if Custom LASIK surgery is right for you.
-
All-Laser LASIK
All-Laser LASIK surgery is a sophisticated, minimally invasive form of LASIK surgery. Unlike the older approach to LASIK that used a blade (or microkeratome), All-Laser LASIK is entirely bladeless and creates the corneal flap with a laser for the greatest precision and customization. All-Laser LASIK surgery provides a treatment option to patients who may have previously been ineligible to receive LASIK due to thin corneas.
At LasikPlus, we use All-Laser LASIK because we’re dedicated to providing our patients with the best vision options through advanced laser technology.

Blended Vision
If you struggle with presbyopia and would prefer not to wear reading glasses or bifocals, your doctor might suggest a Blended Vision solution. Blended Vision involves correcting one eye to see for distance and under-correcting the other eye for close-up vision. When the patient looks in the distance, the eye treated for distance is at work. When the patient looks down to read, the eye corrected close up vision does the work.
Your LasikPlus doctor and experienced staff can help you learn more about this option so you can see if Blended Vision is a possible solution for you.

PRK
Photorefractive Keratectomy, or PRK, was the most commonly performed laser vision correction treatment before LASIK and remains an excellent option for people whose corneal thickness might make them less than ideal candidates for LASIK surgery. PRK is a quick, reliable treatment using the same laser to reshape the cornea and address the same vision impairments as LASIK. Rather than creating a flap, however, PRK directly shapes the surface of the cornea and allows these cells to regenerate and heal.
PRK involves some discomfort and blurred vision following the surgery as well as longer recovery times than LASIK. The results, however, are the same as those with LASIK. The post-op visits with PRK are slightly different than LASIK, so make sure to discuss this with your doctor and LasikPlus team.
